birthday present :)

so, even though my birthday is still 12 days away, I talked my parents into giving me my present early! guess what it is! A Wacom Bamboo Touch Pen Tablet.

squeeeee! I love it already. I have been drawing almost nonstop with it.

I drew this little owlet:

and here is a drawing of my great grandpa (based off a picture from the 1920's) that I did with an actual pencil & paper

and then using my new pen tablet, I digitally painted over it:

I'm off to go have more fun drawing. :) xo,

My dad's birthday :)

Today was my dads birthday (and I waited until yesterday to make my dads birthday present. lol) And this is the awesome gift I made him-- picture frames to put on his desk at work. made from old bike chain rings.

I really like how they turned out.
There was also cake Taylor made (which my dad cut into before I could take a picture.)

And we also went to the Museum of Science and History, which was fun. there was a cool display of these vintage cameras...

And this really awesome alphabet chair. That I had to get a picture of.

How was your day?

Pretty Colored Tape DIY

Hey! Here is a cute little tutorial I whipped up this evening.. I love the look of washi tape (even tho I don't have any) so I decided to make my own version.. :)

Supplies: thin masking tape, markers/sharpies, parchment or wax paper.

1. lay out a strip of tape on the parchment paper.

2. Draw pretty patterns on your tape.

Fill in the rest of your tape.

Peel off your tape and decorate with it! It look great on envelopes, scrapbook layouts, etc!

Tis Paradise..

Just thought I would share pictures of a layout I did. The background paper was just a plain light yellow, so I sprayed some darker yellow paint onto it, to give it more color.

project #3 On The Go Craft Case

Supplies: Briefcases, fabric + felt, pretty papers, paint, embellishments.
1. To make a crochet hook/pens & markers pocket:
Fold a piece of felt in half and sew lines through it, varying widths(for different size hooks/or markers.)
Also so 2 small scraps of ribbon to the 2 ends so that you can roll up the pocket and tie it.

For a scissor/misc tools pocket:
Sew a piece of fabric in half (right sides together, leaving the top open) and flip right side out. I also sewed a felt scallop on the edge for an added effect.

2. decorate the inside of your briefcase with pretty papers. Decoupage works really well for this, but you can also just use any strong glue.

Attach pockets to the front of the briefcase folders. I recommend a strong glue, because trying to sew through the leather is somewhat hard.

Decorate the outside. Painting looks great on the vintage briefcases.
Fill up your brief case with pretty craft supplies that you can take with you and craft!

I hope you've been following our free mini class this weekend, and maybe have done some of the projects?
Xo, Katie and Taylor
*p.s. Hope to see some of you guys join us in our Indie Harvest class. We have a lot of amazing projects for it.*
