Coloring Book Pages to awesome paintings

This is what I've been doing all afternoon! Painting coloring book pages- Here's you a tutorial!
Supplies: Coloring book Page (I found the awesome star trek pages on google images) paint
1. paint in all the colored spots, leave the black. Try to color in the lines! (this was hard for me, haha j/k)
2. Using a small brush, paint over the black lines.
Now frame your cool paintings! These are really great  if you dont think you can paint, because the coloring book lines make it easy to paint!
Now I have James T. Kirk and Uhura to hang on our art wall! yay! :)

How to make an Art Journal.

Enjoying the blog party? I'm so happy to have abunch of amazing guest bloggers today! Here's another tutorial I've made for you guys: How to make an art journal!
1. Gather your supplies--- grab every pretty paint, ink, stamp and glitter glue you can find! :) Also, grab some printer paper!
2. Color your pages. Here are some techniques to try:
  • Ink- run ink pads across your page.
  • Write. write all across your page, use song lyrics, a poem, or just random words.
  • Remember how much fun crayon rubbings were as a kid? break out the crayons and play around.
  • paint, use acrylics, watercolors, etc.
I really wanted a watercolor look, but I didn't have any watercolor paints. So I filled a plastic cup with water, and squirted in a few drops of acrylic paint, and voila! water colors!
3. Once you have all your pages colored, back 2 of them together, and sew along the edges. repeat with other pages.
4. Stack up your pages on top of each other, and sew a seam down the middle to bind them.
5. Fold in half, and start art journaling. There aren't any rules in art journaling, just have fun. add magazine pages, paint some more, doodle with sharpies:
Here's a peek at all the pages I've done so far..

Guest Blog with Tabatha + giveaway!

A few thoughts,
Katie asked me to write a post for her blog party so I thought I’d use the space to spread the word about a topic of our household as of late.

The other day Katie, Taylor and I spent the afternoon volunteering at the North Texas Food Bank. It was a real eye-opener. One in 3 Dallas Kids fall below the poverty line and are hungry. The food bank supplies food for 13 counties, not just Dallas. Only 9 percent of the people that receive food from the pantry are homeless, the rest are your neighbors, seniors and co-workers. They may have jobs, even degrees but don’t make enough to keep food in the house without help.

When most people donate to food drives, they think CANNED GOODS, well let me tell you, green beans, peas and corn are fine, but there is usually an overabundance of those donated and who really wants to eat JUST green beans, peas and corn? Even when you are hungry, you appreciate a variety. Dry goods are especially needed, cereal, rice, dried beans, macaroni and cheese Peanut Butter.

I am challenging all of PunkProjects Followers: Donate a bag of groceries to your local food pantry and make it anything but green beans, peas or corn!! If you sew, Donate a baby quilt or Lap quilt to your Local Shelter or Children’s Ward.
So for the blog party, Tabatha is giving away 2 baby quilts. I hope the winner passes one on to someone in need.
To enter to win these, simply comment on this post with your name & email! I will be announcing the giveaway winner on next Saturday, the 29th. -Katie
p.s. (Thanks, Mom, for guest blogging for me! xo, Katie)

Campfire Chic Guest Blog and How-to!

How-To: Turn Your Twitter Feed Into a Newspaper

Hi Punk Projects readers! Katie let me take over for a post so I could bring you a little How-To!

Have we met? I'm Kam of Campfire Chic I live in Southern California, am on the cusp of turning 25, and love to craft. Maybe that's why Katie and I get along so well! While this post may not be as awesomely crafty as Katie's regular posts, I think you will like this How-To none-the-less.

How-To: Turn Your Twitter Feed Into a Newspaper

Put away the carbon paper, and turn off the printer, today's project is less supply-intense.
You Will Need:
Internet Connection
A Twitter (or Facebook, but I won't focus on how to make that one) Account

How to make your newspaper:
You'll need to go to http://paper.li/ to create your paper. Sign in using your Twitter information. Twitter.com let you confirm that you would like to give this website permission to pull your information.

When you get on, you'll see this:
You will need to decide how you want your newspaper to be created. You have a few options, including only having your information, your information PLUS those of the people you follow, and a certain hashtag! It's pretty impressive, to tell you the truth.
I selected to create a newspaper with my information plus the people I follow

Pretty neat, right? It has all the sections of a normal newspaper! Do you see any of your tweets in there?
I went ahead and tested out what the hashtag newspapers would look like.

Here is the #Etsy paper I created:
The newspapers are updated every 24 hours, if it hasn't updated, there is a refresh button you can use. It's pretty neat!
Here is the #craft paper I created:

You are only given 10 credits to create newspapers. That means you can create 10. I would search for a newspaper before creating one...which I learned after I used a bunch of my credits! Darn.

Go ahead and try out this service!
Leave a comment below with a link to your newspaper(s), I'd love to see it!
