Product Review: Travel Scratch Map

I love traveling, don't you? I guess almost everyone does. Exploring new places is one of my favorite things. I've been to 38 states in the United States as well as going to Mexico a couple of times.

I also love maps. I love to look at them. I love to cut them up to use them in craft projects and I love to display them.

We've got a big map that we use to document our travels, like the time we rode our bikes down the East coast and our most recent trip- Road tripping across the west.  I've got a map of my new home, Seattle, above my bed and I just picked up a whole book of Washington maps to use in projects.

So obviously you can now see why when the company UncommonGoods asked me if I would like to review one of their products, the product I chose was a map from their Wall Art collection, which you can find here.

If you haven't heard of this cool company yet, here's a little more about them.

UncommonGoods was founded in 1999 (I was just 7 years old! Baby Katie!) and are headquartered in Brooklyn, New York. They are a private retailer that endeavors to feature unique designs and handcrafted gifts created in harmony with the environment and without harm to animals or people.

They say that half of what they sell is made by hand and in the USA. Pretty cool, right?

I ordered the Scratch Map, which you can find here. It is a gold foiled map of the world. Right now I only have (most of) America and Mexico scratched off, but one day I hope to have a lot more color shining through that gold.

The packaging was almost as cool as the map itself. It came in this neat map printed tube. I feel like it's something you would see in National Treasure or some other movie.

Scratching off the gold foil was easy enough, I just used a coin, although I got distracted and started to scratch through Nevada, one of the few states I haven't been to yet. Oops.

Okay, one more cool fact I learned about UncommonGoods-  They donate $1 from every purchase to your choice of their not for-profit partner organizations. That's pretty cool.

I'm pretty happy with how this map looks on my wall. Hopefully I'll get to scratch off even more soon!

I'm also loving some of their cool Decorative Pillows (find those here). Those may be a future purchase.

So, are you obsessed with maps too?
