Get Messy Thursday- Forests and Galaxies

It is the Season of Music in the Get Messy community, and I am using an altered atlas as my art journal.

Get Messy Art Journal is an art journaling program that is a school, art playground and family. We are a group of like minded art journalers who have come together under this art form to learn, share, practice our skills and push past our creative limits with hopes to inspire. Our community values consistent creating, encouragement and suppport and trying new things. We would love to have you join us as a member of Get Messy Art Journal.

You can read more about why I love the Get Messy community here.

First up, how about this page I just finished last night, that is all about the green. I was really inspired by the photo (that I tore out of a NatGeo magazine) to do a page about nature.

It may be the Season of Music, so you may not immediately think "Oh I should do a page about the forest", but if you stop to listen to nature, you'll find it has it's own songs.

The right page is done with watercolors and then I decided to play around with some gouache, and painted on the lime green vines with it.

We went on an 8 mile hike this past weekend to Spray Falls, near Mount Rainier, and I'd say it definitely inspired me.

Here's the waterfall we hiked to:

Anyway, back to my art journal:

As a part of the Get Messy Creative Team, it was my week to share a tutorial on the private Get Messy blog! So, I shared my process for painting watercolor galaxies!
(If you're a Get Messy member, just go to the GM blog to find my tutorial!)

After I painted the background and added stars, I grabbed my favorite black Tombow Dual Brush Pen to letter on the song lyrics.

I actually love both of my pages this week! Maybe it's because I'm obsessed with both the forest and space? Yeah, that could definitely be it.

Have you done anything cool lately?
