Get Messy - The Season of Art

It's a new season over at *Get Messy, the Season of Art 101! So for the next few weeks I'll be working in this Field Notes journal, experimenting with art techniques,

*Get Messy Art Journal is an art journaling program that is a school, art playground and family. We are a group of like minded art journalers who have come together under this art form to learn, share, practice our skills and push past our creative limits with hopes to inspire. Our community values consistent creating, encouragement and support and trying new things. We would love to have you join us as a member of Get Messy Art Journal.

The Season of Art 101 is separated  into weekly themes, with a new art medium each week. This week as about watercolors and gouache so that's what I was playing with on these journal pages.

Vanessa shared a tutorial on creating gouache faces. I've never really worked with gouache, so it was great to experiment with.

The page below is a combination of a watercolor background and some lettering. The girl is a copy from one of my sketchbooks.

My brain had a hiccup when I created this page. The quote by Brene Brown is originally "Courage starts with showing up and letting yourself be seen.".
But for some reason when I was lettering it, my brain changed the word from "courage" to "creativity". I'm not sure why.

One last page this week, because you cannot have a week of watercolors without having a watercolor galaxy.

I had actually started the week with a plan to journal the Season of Art prompts on large, loose paper instead of in a journal. But 1 page in and I hated it. I guess I just like having a book to work in, so I cut up the page (it was the page with my gouache faces) and turned it into 3 pages here in this field notes journal.

Happy Friday!
