Get Messy Season of Fairy Tales - Week 2

It is the Season of Fairy Tales at *Get Messy. So for the  next few weeks I'm working in this  handmade mushroom journal.

                        *Get Messy Art Journal is an art journaling program that is a school, art playground and family. We are a group of like minded art journalers who have come together under this art form to learn, share, practice our skills and push past our creative limits with hopes to inspire. I have 2 pages to share this week. Although maybe it's more like 1.5, as I haven't finished the second one yet.


First up, I have my space princess page. So far in this journal I have been doing fairy tale retellings, where I put a twist on a classic fairy tale, however this is not one of those. For this spread I was thinking more along the lines of "if I were a princess, and that's how I ended up with this:



I actually drew the girl our first and then found the quote by Elizabeth Gilbert and I think they go together perfectly!


As I mentioned above, this second page is not finished yet. I started it yesterday however I won't have any time in my art studio this weekend, so it's on hold until Monday! I have an idea of what I want to add though.

This week Riet shared a fun tutorial on the Get Messy blog about adding windows and flaps to your pages, which is what inspired me to add in this cut out window.  I really love it.
